I got this computer for free from one of our nieghbors. They assured it would work and it does, or did for about the first 4 days. I recetly attempted to put a new hard drive in but it didnt read. I did all i could to get it to. After i took the hard drive out the computer wouldnt start. When i try to start it up it makes one long beep and then two shorter ones. The monitor doesn read that it is connected or something. No message comes up saying "check signal" or whatever, it just remains blank. The monitor light just blinks. If anyone has any ideas on how to help it would be appreciated! Thanks.

Sounds like something has an iffy connection, maybe the video card.

You could try cleaning the contacts on the cards as well.

Connections often play up when disturbed. They only have to move slightly onto a bit of tarnish around the original connect point.
