Hey...I am having some trouble. Every time I load up my computer, It says Invalid Disk Drive but there is nothing in my A Drive. Then, I try to re-install windows from DOS but it freezes in the middle beacause it says my C Drive may be damaged. If anyone has a Windows 95 or 98 Start up Disk to get into windows, I would appreciate it. Thanks. If you want to send a start up disk, emai lme at Xero4187@aol.com

is it a fresh install? did you fdisk to delete the partitions and start new? if you did is the c drive set active?did you run scandisk from the boot disk?it will detect a damaged HDD.change settings in the bios?I know on mine I had an error like that trying enabling ultra ata without an adapter card installed.does the bios detect the HDD correctly? maybe try the auto setting if you have one

You say that EVERY time you start your computer you are getting 'invalid disk drive' message. This usually means that the BIOS cannot find the bootup files from the drive that it is trying to boot the machine from ... yet you say you are getting part way through setting up Windows from DOS. Without a further explanation I find that confusing, seeing that you do not have a boot up disk.

Can you confirm that you can get to a DOS prompt (C:\) and how you get to it. What system were you running when the computer went down?

You said yourself that DOS tells you the drive is damaged.
