My Computer Turns Off After 15 Seconds

When I turn on the computer, it lights up along with the keyboard. But, nothing pops up on my monitor (blank screen). The light on the monitor is orange instead of green. After approximately 15 seconds, the computer turns off by itself. My computer is about a year old (HP) -- it never did this before. Please help. I have scoured the website for answers, but to no avail.

If so how many.
As a quick suggestion. I would open the case of the beast & re-seat the graphics card & RAM. More info on what exactly happens would be app.

Alfred as stated maybe your video card is just loose,also as suggested listen for the beeps. And give us more info..

20 bucks says you have a bad processor but just in case do like they said above and reseat gfx card and ram. I would buy a new stick of ram first off then try another card before processor.

It maybe that your power supply is bad, if the fan is not running the cpu will begin to overheat and the power supply will shut off.

- The fan runs; it sounds normal. - Upon turning on my computer, the computer beeps twice (two fast consecutive beeps). - My computer was built by HP -- PIII 933 with 512 MB of RAM. - It runs on Windows 98.
