Hi, i have a problem, probably right now my computer will reboot itself and I won't be able to type the description of the problem my computer is having. It reboots itself randomly without any warning. I am so fucking pissed. I just want to figure out what is going on with it.

I have a Pentium 2 intel inside 300 MHZ and an American Megatrends Amibios Bios; it has a 3D Banshee Blaster and an OPTI sound card; in addition, it has a Linksys PCI ethernet network card and a Motorola 56K modem surfer. So, What can I do if I have the Windows 98 installed>

have you checked your system recources?
they could be low
or there is a program that is commanding your pc to reboot...or there is a hot key that you are pushing to reboot it....last but not least check carefully when you are typing...makesure there is no reason for the pc to reboot itself...it could be something your diong that is making it reboot

Why don't you try take out all cards except Banshee and diagnose each card slowly?

Second probability may be your Bios setting or your motherboard settings is wrong.

Try updating your network Card driver. I see that all the time.

I have this spontainious reboot problem in Windows 98 on to different computers.
One with a Celeron 400MHz and a M628 motherboard with the latest BIOS and another with a SOYO 5EHM socket 7 with a Cyrix 333 and niether machine does it when I boot to the OS/2 partition. Since OS/2 can boot from any hard drive (second or third) and even in an extended partiton with no files what so ever on the C: drive, and many other people are having this spontainious reboot problem, I think that the problem is in Windows.
Maybe there will be a patch for this from Microsoft which solves the problem. Microsoft never said much about the Windows 95/98 memory leaks, but if you treated the computer as if the memory leaks existed (not leaving the machine on for more than 2 days) it sure did help. I suspect that if there is a patch for this problem, it will be advertised as a patch for something else and this problem will just magicly be solved so that liability for lost hours is not admitted.

Me too!
Please help! My computer always hang or REBOOT AUTOMATICALLY after I use it sometime (say 2 hours), particularly, when I play some games, e.g. Diablo2. What's the problem? Hardware or Software? My configuration is:
Duron 650
MSI K7T Pro
MSI Geforce 2 MX graphic card
1 IBM 15G hardisk
1 Matxor 15G hardisk
1 Sony CD rom
1 Panasonic CD-writer
HCF (modem)
All are using the latest drivers.
Thank you very much.
