When i come to print something on my computer it freezes? The printer is a HP 959c, i have all of the drivers installed and i have tried reinstalling the OS

Have you waited to see if the computer is actually locked up? Printers of the age of your system had thier own engine to process the print job. Now with faster processors the printers rely on Windows and your processor entirely to handle the print job. Is this a new occurance or a new printer installation?
This is a new printer installation and the computer wont do anything, the mouse wont move ect, the printer is only a few years old, Thanks George M
How is this printer connected to the computer?
the printer is connected to LPT1 port the defult printr port
Try setting the spool setting different ways. You can instruct to start printing right away ar sinish spooling. I would try right away. Also try using the capture printer port option. Find both of those options in printer settings> details.
