My cd burner freezes when I insert a blank cdr disk. It scans the disk I want to copy then it tells me to insert a cdr. I do so and it either gets to 1% or 0% and freezes. If it get to 1% and freezes that cdr disk is ruined. Sometimes when it copies the copied disk has to be used on the cdrw drive. It will not play on a regular cdrom drive. When it does copy it sometimes does not copy right. The copied disk will not work at all in either drive. Please help!

Don't know how others feel about this, but if you can't show us the courtesy and respect to offer up a name (even a fake one), I don't see why we should help you.

I'm afraid I don't think it shows lack of courtesy, but that's just me. He did include his email address. But I do agree that it's a good idea to use a nickname, even if it's phony.
You could have a dirty drive. You could try blowing it out with a can of compressed air. There are also CD drive cleaning kits, which I have never tried.

I'd uninstall the CD burning software and reinstall it. If that doesn't help uninstall the CD burner and reinstall it and the drivers. I don't know what kind of disks your trying to copy but some of them are copy protected and just can't be copied.

I agree with safe... Give us a name.
However, on to the problem. Make sure you have nothing running in the background. Sounds like a buffer underun error.
You can't have a screen saver or an online connection checking your e-mail while your trying to burn a cd.
Turn off everything you can that may be running in the background. And if you have Easy CD Creator 5 or above, put a check mark in the buffer underun protection box.

My interneal CD writer died about a year ago. I have a USB, which has its issues!!!!!!!!
I too get the same errors and have about an inch stack of ruined cd's.
It helps to control-alt-delete and turn everything off, even your antivirus and firewall.
Alsi I now have to burn at a lower rate of speed and my cds are not ruined.
Also check to see if there is an upgrade on your cd burner software, mine recently did have one which resolved some recognition issues of the USB type.
U must have everything turned off via Ctrl-Alt-Delete and burn at a lower rate of speed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I burn I always make sure the Simulation option is checked (I use Nero) under the properties, so it will go through the burn process first and hopefully flag any errors without wasting a blank. If you don't have that option, then maybe burn onto a re-writable (assuming your burner uses them) as a test run, so bad burns can be erased, before donating a blank to the final run.

Is there a way to sync the data transfer between cd rom and cd burner or computer to burner as I find my external USB burner is not at spiffy as my internal Phillips was, the external is a Phillips USB!!!!!!!!!!
I use Easy CD Creator 5 with an upgrade!!!!
Thanks!!!!!
