I've looked at many search engines but nothing ever comes up. Sometimes when I boot my computer it causes this weird white screen that I can only get rid of by closing msrexe.exe. Is it safe to delete it?

MSREXE.EXE is a file used by SUBSEVEN BACKDOOR. You have been compromised. DELETE MSREX.exe....ASAP. DO NOT delete MPREXE.exe.

msrexe.exe is a backdoor used by subseven,
you should delete it, open start/execute
type msconfig put the msrexe.exe out, reboot your computer and delete it

if you are not sure try a firewall and look for that ip that tries to connect your c time after time

In the event that the trojan was deleted before making the registry changes, it is still possible to repair the registry. You will need access to another computer, or at a minimum, access to MS-DOS on the affected system. Using MS-DOS edit, create a file called UNDO.REG with the following content (you can cut and paste):

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command]
@="\"%1\" %*"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSES\exefile\shell\open\command]
@="\"%1\" %*"

12) Save this file to the Windows folder of the affected system as the file "UNDO.REG".

13) Click on START|RUN and type in UNDO.REG and press ENTER. The contents of UNDO.REG should be now imported to the registry

I found that file in my system too.
Zonealarm caught the mrsexe.exe in action and sayd that it was trying to connect the internet. I recommend zonealarm to everyone, it it free and reliable, worth of trying.

To get rid of the problem just delete a line from your win.ini

It says:

run=[winpath]/msrexe.exe

you can easely delete this part.....

Prblem solved. An other way is Northon anti virus. It will solve the problem to. But then you have to have msrexe.exe installed on your system before he will find it...

I too got the virus and deleted the msrexe.exe which did no good. I got nortons sys works it detected the virus and quarrtined it but could not repair. now the computer gives me an error message of a missing file msrexe.exe and ndcsthsi.exe. i can get back into the nortons cd or anything else. access is denied. does anyone have an answer. looks like alot of people are in the same boat. I guess it pays to have a good virus checker.
