Comment:

Windows 95 stops loading till I press control-alt-delete. A message saying msqsrv32 has stopped responding appears. I "end task" and win95 finishes loading OK but I can't copy and paste or click and drag files or directories. Any ideas anyone?

My machine is running win98 v2.It locks up every time I use a dial-up. Using ctrl-alt-delete shows "msqsrv32[not responding]". Terminating this restores equilibrium with no apparant ill effects until I try to shut down. Then I get an exception error. I'm still digging! I really don't want to have to do a clean install yet again!

Unchecking network in MSCONFIG fixed my issue with msqsrv32. Try unchecking those items in msconfig to see if it helps you.

i'm a computer tech at compaq and I'm helping w/ that problem right now. This person had the "hey you" MIME virus and installed norton 2000 to clean it, she had some remaining stuff from the virus on her computer, so I don't know if it is related to the virus or Norton's or what but someone else that worked here metioned a .trs file, not much you can do about that.

I had various problems after trying to install a "Quickcam" (Logitech), which would not work. I spent many hours on the 'phone to Logitech and my pc supplier, I uninstalled and reloaded nearly everything on my hard disk, I updated all microsoft and symantec stuff, and eventually my son-in-law got the camera working. however each time I shut down it wouldn't work again. Now when I start up with the cam connected to usb port the pc hangs, with ctrl-alt-del I get the msqsrv32 error message. The cam will not work. Previously when I have had it working I have had a ms:raytubes32 error message, any ideas.

The messages on this page seem to be helpful I will try them.

Thanks, Ted

I have a problem with MSQSRV32 also. I tried installing a printer which didn't install correctly. When I right click on the printer to check to properties it seems to lock up but the HD just runs. Then after some time I push cntr Alt Del and find that MSQSRV32 is not responding. I cannot uninstall the printer or reinstall it. And I cannot print to it.

I had the same problem with msqsrv32 after I installes Nikon Coolpix 990 USB drivers - the PC hung on booting.

I found that if I booted with the camera connected and switched on, the PC booted OK. It looks as if the USB driver hangs your machine if it's not (or thinks it's not) connected to something.

I also have the problem with msqsrv32. I only have the problem when I dial up and I do not have norton antivirus. The problem on my PC is identified every time I start Starseige Tribes(after dialing up). My PC will pause the game every 5 seconds showing the windows mouse pointer in the center of the Tribes screen with an hour glass then the game will go on and pause again 5 seconds later. I get out of the game and Windows is pausing every 5 seconds. I press Cntl+Alt+Del and nothing of msqsrv32 shows up until I reboot and press Cntl+Alt+Del. Strange that I am only able to see it when I reboot. If I find anything out about it I will post another message. If anyone else can help please post.

Microsoft says that many apps suppliers havent adjusted to win98 2nd edition - i wonder if this includes the isp software using the dialup connection rather than the dialup software itself - pls post if the msqsrv32 problem and failure of win98 2nd ed to close properly - maybe these problems r related

I'm experiencing the same problem and it all started when I tried to install a USB hub. Now, everytime I try to hotplug my Imation LS120 USB drive, I have a freezeup and get the "msqsrv32 not responding" message. I'm now using Windows ME. The only way I can reboot is in safe mode.

I seem to have a major problem, which I tend to attribute to hardware. All of a sudden, my computer won't boot. After I see my desktop, but before the icons should start appearing, the computer freezes. I push Ctrl-Alt-Del and get to the Task manager which says Msqsrv32 [Not responding]. I press 'end task' and get BSOD. When I reboot, I get the same thing. I tried to format my hard drive and clean install windows - no luck. When the installation process gets to detecting PnP hardware it freezes. I reboot and get the same Msqsrv32 [Not responding] message. Does anyone know what that is? It was working properly for quite a while.

My Cyrix 333 based computer runs quite ok (Win98_se or Win ME) until I insert a pci modem whereupon it wont boot up. It 'freezes when the desktop appears but before the icons show. Message reports MSCONFIG (not responding). Will try with Win98 and will report findings soon.

I have now loaded my machine with the origonal Win98, and oh joy - it all works like it should! This really goes to show just how important it is to have the latest drivers when using Win98_SE or ME. Thanks to Tim Nott of PCW for his help in pointing me to this site.

I am also having the problem with MSQSRV32 [Not Responding]. Somebody help me, I am usually quite good at fixing my pc myself but this one has lost me. I dont have a single file on my computer called MSQSRV32. My computer was working fine then my graphics slowed down so I installed new drivers for it from the website but it didnt help so I re-installed Win98 and now my pc runs sooooo slow and I do Ctrl+Alt+Del and get the MSQSRV32 [Not Responding] message. When I end the task my pc is still slower than it used to be a couple of weeks ago but it is better than leaving MSQSRV32 running. I dont use any USB or palmtop or WebCam so I guess it cant be related to those.

Thanks anyone who can help me.

palm did have the solution for those who have palm pilots causing the problem. the serial connector on some hotsync cradles causes windows to lock-up and the arrow and hourglass keep flashing. by simply unplugging the serial connector the problem stops. palm's fix is to send you a new serial interface cable, no charge. if this is your problem call 1-847-262-PALM and they will help you. good luck

Sounds like I'm not the only one with msqsrv32 problems! My system locks up and I hit control+alt+delete and get the msqsrv32 not responding. When I try to end the task the computer locks up for good! The problem seems to be more and more frequent. Any advise would be helpful.

Lately I've been having msqsrv32 problems also. I do have Norton Antivirus on my system. Just checked and there is no msqsrv32 file on my system. I was playing a game while also playing music the other day, and then suddenly the music stopped and everything froze. I had to do ctrl-alt-delete and noticed that msqsrv32 not responding message. In the end I had to try a cold boot, and then I got a black screen with the message "Error: ROM Mapping Failed." The computer was totally dead. Somehow it got back to life after a couple more cold boots, but I'm still getting that msqsrv32 problem every so often. I've consulted with a couple of computer professionals in my family and even they are stumped. What now?

One good thing, I'm not alone with this problem. I run win 98SE on an IBM Aptiva.
The problem was just the same with win98.
The machine hangs first time I do a external connection using my isdn card. Ctrl Alt del indicates msqsrv32 problem, shutting this down will cure the problem and let me carry on with the log on. When closing down external conn. and conn. up again everything works ok without problems.
However icons at the task bar doesent dissapear when I close programs.
After a while everything locks up and a complete reset must be carried out.
I have worked hundreds of hours with this and talked to several pc spec. but still no solution. I'm really frustrated.
