Comment:

When Windows 98 comes on and I type in my network password I get the famous message that MSPEXE: This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor. I tried deleting my PWL file and afte I put in my new password I got the same result: The message says the MPREXE has caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.dll at 0177:bffb89e4

search the ms knowledge for "mprexe" and download the patch. there are instructions for deleting *.pwl files but the patch fixed it for me without having to recreate password lists.
