Ive found that if your sound card isnt full duplex,then u dont have a hope in hell of getting voice chat set up.......i didnt have this difficulty in previous versions of messenger,but do now......I simply gave up and use yahoo messenger and icq........msn simply isnt worth the hassle......sorry i cant say more to help

Summary: dont know if you've looked at the help files within MESSENGER, but they suggest it is to do with a firewall( as you've check the other suggestions): "Voice For voice communications to work effectively...
