Hi,
I have all kinds of small and big problems with my system, again and again. Crashes, programs that do not work, or not work right, nice blue screens etc etc.
If I run Norton Utilities to fix any problems, it shows that the registry has been tempered. I never touch the registry. Norton Registry Tracker shows that it is always the MSGSRV32.exe that causes problems on my system. What is that file for? Why does it seem to cause problems and errors? How can I fix that issue?
Thank you so much for your help!!

msgsrv32 is not causing the problem, but rather just being the messenger telling you that that something else is. You need to post the text of the rest of the error message.

At the risk of repeating myself from a previous post........

Msgsrv32.exe is a program (Windows 32-bit message server) that performs several background functions necessary for Windows operation.

These functions include:

Load installable Windows drivers at startup and unload them at shutdown
Run the shell program (usually Explorer.exe) and re-run the shell if it fails to respond
Mediate Plug and Play messages among various parts of the operating system
Coordinate automatic responses to Setup programs. This includes checking whether a Setup program has improperly overwritten Windows files, and optionally restoring the Windows versions of those files
Display the initial logon dialog box if networking is enabled
Play the system startup and shutdown sounds

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response!
I really do not get an error message which includes a fault with the particular file, rather all kinds of error messages, like the little gray screen that closes programs, blue screens, freezes, hourglasses every few seconds, crashes, programs that do not work or work properly or run/respond very slow, also my CPU is running around 90-100% ALL the time.
If I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, these programs are running: Explorer, Rnaapp, Navapw32, Ptsnoop and Nprotect.
If I run Norton Utilities to fix problems, it always shows a registry error that it fixes, if I look into Norton Registry Tracker shows that it is always the MSGSRV32.exe that has been changed/fixed.
I defrag and run scandisc regularily.
Any suggestions? Thanks so much!!
Peewee

I would back up important data to a disk or CD, then reinstall Windows, deleting everything. Then reinstall all of your programs. I've had my PC do that too.
