Trying to install a Mentor USB Modem (Rockwell/Conexant) the computer crashes with an error MSGSRV32 : An error has occurred in your application etc. After this I can't manually install the modem either. I have tried 2 fixes found on the internet.
1) Copy msgsrv32.exe from another computer

2) Put a shortcut to msgsrv32.exe in the Startup folder Neither has fixed the problem. Please help! Cheers.

With USB devices you have to run the install disc without the device being connected, shutdown, connect the device, reboot and Windows should detect the device and install the drivers. Is this how you did it? If yes, you may find a solution at www.usbman.com
