My Mates PC is rendered useless because Windows will not load properly, due to Msgserv Illegal Op. Safe mode doesn't work. DOS is working, as is Boot Config and thats about it. Dunno how to fix without losing information on Harddisk. Searched for other info on the web but havent found anything useful.
- He doesn't have Win98 CD, altho i can prob provide this.
- He recently installed a Broadband Modem.
- His PC was Messed up already (i've seen pwoer management problems on it, but not TOO bad.)

Try extracting a copy of Msgserv from your windows 98 cd, and replacing the one on his hard drive. Boot your win98 cd, in his cd-rom, choose to start computer with cd-rom support, and extract the msgsrv from your windows cd.

Hope this helps.
