Comment:

Can I remove the byline Microsoft Internet Explorer "provided by America Online" now that I no longer use AOL? I download a new copy of Internet Explorer but the AOL byline still popped up.

Thanks,
Steve

Yes, you can modify the registry key that aol changes to add their name to the IE title line. Its been a while since I did it but here's how I remember it:

1st- before you edit the registry, make a backup copy!
2. run regedit and search the registry for "America" or "America Online" Keep hitting find next until you see the key that says Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by America Online. Click on Edit> Modify. Then just erase the america online part and click ok. That should do it.

Crypto is right about the registry key (but I can't check the procedure because I am at work). You can replace the key data with your own message if you would like. There is also another non-registry way of doing it. It involves modifying a couple of files. If you are interested e-mail me.
