Whenever I run an MPEG it freezes up the computer. I have tried as much as I can, uninstalling and reinstalling plug-ins, updating to current plugins, changing drives between c and f. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

We need to know which make of video card you are using, and if you have installed the MPEG player that came on the cards driver disk. Some video cards do not handle MPEG very well, and some of the OEM MPEG players do no handle the Intel INDEO 5x codec or Active Movie enviroments well at all. Therefore, without the info requested above, it is pretty hard to decide where the problem may lay.

The video card (if I have it right??) is a Velocity 128 multimedia accelerator. 4mb - agp bus. Came with the Dell Computer (if that helps) last year on the pentium 350 model. I think that the problem lies in the update I did to Netscape 4.0 to 4.5......I uninstalled and reinstalled this morning the 4.5 and the mpeg plays. Problem is now that I have no confidence in whether I messed up the system registry with all this plug in stuff and I have a conflict I can not resolve. Thank you very much, and I look forward to your response.

That explains alot. The Indeo Codec and Active Movie are part of IE. Now that you have installed Netscape for a second time, I think you can be fairly confident that the problem is licked.
