I have a slight problem. I use iMesh and Kazaa to download MP3 files... never had problems with these programs... I downloaded a media player that gave me more options.. it is called..dbpowerAMP... it works fine..BUT.. it changed my MP3 files to something else. Now when I go to either iMesh or Kazaa to download songs or try to play the already downloaded songs.. I'm unable to do so.. the dbpowerAMP stold the MP3's and now I'm not able to access them thru the other programs.. how can I convert these MP3's back so I can use them as before. I have tried deleting the dbpower program, with no luck. reinstalled the iMesh and Kazaa programs to see if it would convert them back. but when looking thru explorer after the dbpower program was deleted there is a file folder listed as dbpower that is storing my MP3 files.. I need help getting them back where they were.. if someone can help..PLEASE do so.. BozemanTr@cfl.rr.com..thanks..Bryan
Left click on an MP3 file to select it. Then hold down the shift key and right click. Then select 'open with'. Select the program that you want to open MP3 files. Note the 'always use this program ...'.

I already know how and can do that... thats not the problem... I can no longer play these downloads from either iMesh or Kazaa or set up a play list on those two programs. The songs that were downloaded to iMesh are no longer there to be used.. I have to go thru the C drive and the downloads.. but when I do that now. they will not play as before, due to the dbpowerAMP program I installed to play the MP3 files independent of iMesh and Kazaa, This program has stolen the files and changed the format of the file. I wanted to know if there was a way to move them back as before. I have deleted all the programs, then re-installed iMesh thinking it would incorperate the MP3 files back to the program..this did not happen.. they are in a single folder created by the dbpowerAMP program, which I deleted. so I have no idea how to convert them back to original format so they will be cobpatible with the iMesh program....Thanks.. Bryan
Ok, that must have been a virus. Did it change the extension from MP3 to something else? If that's all it did, then changing the extension back to MP3 'might' be all that's needed.
If your system does not show extensions, do the following: Go to My Computer View/Folder Options/View/ and unselect 'Hide file extensions for known file types'
Maybe I still got it wrong. Do you mean that you can play the files ok with the system player, but just don't know how to move them back so they can be played with Kazaa or Imesh?
This is correct. the files are listed as MPEG Layer-3 Audio. I can play ALL the files downloaded.. they are ALL listed in my download floder as before. BUT, when I try to use iMesh I CAN NOT play the songs or create a play list as I could before... it happened when I installed the other program to play the songs. The MP3 file/songs I downloaded play fine. they are now in this stored folder and it is pissing me off that I can not get them to play as before with iMESH... when I download new songs they stay listed in iMESH... BUT are not able to play/ They also download as MPEG Layer-3 Audio. and will only play outside of the iMESH program.. thanks..Bryan
