While trying to download any mp3 files I get a msg that it cannot do so because "the server returned extended information".
What is this?

Well, it doesn't take long for MP3 links to become outdated do to the legality of the "pirated" music. Look in FTP servers instead of web pages for your MP3's.

MP3 servers get busy because they are so popular. I found the best program for finding ftp servers is "MP3 Fiend". It's freeware. You can get a copy at download.com or hotfiles.com, and it also can verify if a server is busy.

Hi.
You need to download Getright or Gozilla (download progs).
Just avoid anything that has to do with ftp when you download mp3. If you need search engines goto mp3meta.com, mp3board.com, audiofind.com or use Napster

Just go to www.napster.com and download napster. napster is a community of people that share songs, at any givin time there are 4-5 thousand people on each server, with a total of around 400,000- 500,000 songs, it is mad easy, i have dled over 420 songs from them

Now you can have the answer to your question. Since nobody else here seemed to answer your real question...
Extended information is when your web browser cant talk to the ftp server correctly. It is when you are not successfully logged into the server because the server was busy or you did not provide the correct login information.

As one of the other responses pointed out... try using an FTP client (IE: CuteFTP) to log into the ftp servers.

Hope this helps.
