Iam using Mozilla Fire Fox Explorer in windows98. This works fine but in off line if i want to see my history it gives me an error message i.e
"Computing.net could not be found. Please check the name and try again."
It is assumed that i have visted computed.net online but offline it shows me the icons of all sites which i have visted but does't open.
Please help e that how can i see my offline sites in Mozilla Fire Fox.
Thanks

If you want to view the WEBPAGES OFFLINE you do this:
STEP:1
download Spiderzilla extension from here:http://spiderzilla.mozdev.org/
STEP:2
After downloading the extension...close FFSTEP:3
Create a folder in the C:\ Drive to hold the saved Webpage Downloads
I just created a desktop folder......example: Hold Webpage DownloadsSTEP:4
relaunch FireFox browserWhen you get to a webpage that you want to download
STEP:5
Tools > Download this site (will bring up the SpiderZilla Dialog Panel)STEP:6
A. Project name: Give it a Project name
B. Action: Download website(s) or click on the downarrow for other options
C. Set Options (I usually leave it alone...but look around to get aquainted with settings)
D. Proxy Set: (I leave blank)
E. Base Dir: click on the ... (3 dots/periods) and navigate to the folder you created in Step #3 and click OK
F. Start Mirroring this will bring up a DOS window with a title heading of httrackStep:7 Let it finish its process/job....the httrack window will close when its finished.......... (This only happened once for me on other occasions I just looked at the light indicator for my Computer Harddrive and when I noticed that it was not blinking anymore I just closed the httrack window.....in case u have problems closing it this way CTRL+ALT+Del keys should bring up the taskmanger to kill the process.
Step:8 I just minimize SpiderZilla and httrack...
Step:9 (OFFLINE/not connected to the internet)
click on FF or IE to launch them to view the Webpages you savedIn FF > Open File or in IE > Open
Navigate to the Same Folder you created in Step#3 and keep navigating to look for the index.html file and click it....
If you want to CLEAR THE HISTORY do this:
Tools > Options > Privacy > History (click on clear button)

Thanks JPQ for your kind reply.I shall install from the said site & will see my offline files.
Thanks again

I have followed all the steps which you wrote. In the Basr Dir I give C:\Mozilla Webpage Downloads which i gave in step 3.
After starting Mirrorning it showfile:///C:/Mozilla%20Webpage%20Downloads/Mozilla%20Offline%20files/hts-cache/new.dat
in the Web Address Box.
I can't see the "Index.html" the folder which i have creadted in step3.It is showing
Doit.log
New
New.1st
New.ndx
New
ReadmeThese are the all files which Spider Zilla created after clicking start Mirroring.
I think that Mizilla does't automatically save internet files just IE does.
Further how can i set my Home page like www.yahoo.com.
Thanks for the guidence.

You want the (IE) index file or IE icon symbol...up 1 level from the folder you created....where you see these files...
Doit.log
New
New.1st
New.ndx
New
Readme
Just click on that IE index icon symbol...you should see the webpage after that...sorry I have unchecked Hide file extensions for known file types on my computer....so I can see he .html extension on my computer. If you still have problems....
Test Spiderzilla this way:1: create a Desktop folder to hold Websites: example: Hold Websites on the desktop screen area.
Using FireFox goto this webpage: www.google.com
Then Tools > Download this site
A. Project Name: Google Project
B. Action: Download this website(s)
C. Set Options (leave alone / do nothing here)
D. Set Proxy (leave alone / do nothing here)
E. E. Base Dir: click on the ... (3 dots/periods) and navigate to the Hold Websites folder you created on the Desktop folder and click OK
F. Start Mirroring this will bring up a DOS window with a title heading of httrack
G. Minimize Spiderzilla & the DOS httrack window & httrack should close by itself when it is finished...downloading the webpage.
OFFLINE:1. You will start FF or IE click the Open File or Open and navigate to the Hold Websites folder located in the Desktop folder open the
2. Open the Google Project folder3. click on the (IE) index file or IE index icon symbol

Well again iam trying my level best to see my offline pages. Iam unable to understand that as u mention
"You want the (IE) index file or IE icon symbol...up 1 level from the folder you created....where you see these files..."
Further i can now see some offline files but if check File.....>Work Offline
other wise it does't show any thing offline.Last thing which i want to ask that i have deleted all internet files from Option..>Clear history as well as Cookies.
Now the problem is Mozilla is not loading www.Yahoo.com in Moailla when iam online .Remaing all sites are opening expect this.
Please again guide me how can i fix my problem. Thanks in adavance.

JPQ ...There is another problem that it is not possible to sent SMS using Fire Fox where as IE auto matically load Java Applit. So please guide me for my these question .
thanks a lot for your kind interest

click on this > index in your folder that you created...to view the webpages that you downloaded during OFFLINE
You might want to goto the FireFox forum for help or more information:

click on this > index in your Project Folder Name that you created...for example: Google Project to view the webpages that you downloaded during OFFLINE

Well JPQ ...thanks a lot for all of your help. Mizilla is the best one Brower & i love it. Now i can see some of my Offline files .

The other problem is that which i write www.yahoo.com in the URL box it does't show me the site & at the bottom left side it shows "STOPPED".
I can view all site online expect the above. Where can i fix it.

To keep homepage:
Tools > Options > General > Location(s): http://www.yahoo.com
Click OK in the bottom of the Options dialog window.
Connection stopped...Try clicking on the Reload current page button in the navigation toolbar located at the top of the Firefox browser.
So what happens when you click here? Yahoo!
Also what other extensions do you have?To check:
Tools > Extensions .... use the scroll button on the right of the Extensions dialog window to check...close the extensions window...click the X.

When i download a software It shows me an ion on the desktop if i stop and wish to download remaining part next time i press stop. Now if i exit my Mozilla brower an message appear that

Please guide me that how can i keep remain that icon as & how to open directly to do it resume to start it again where i left it as .Thanks a log again that u help a for this new and nice browser.

An extension gives the Firefox browser more functions for the user...example: like Spiderzilla.
There are many extensions for Firefox: IMPORTANT: Only download 1 extension at a time or you might lose functions in Firefox
Here is a link to extensions:
When installing an extension all you do is click install from an extensions webpage and it brings up a window message to install or cancel. ONLY install extensions for Firefox if you are using it.
Then an Extensions Window Panel will popup to see the download of the Extension...wait for it to finish....when it finishes use the scroll bar to see it...the new downloaded extension will be at the bottom of the list...close the Extension Window Panel...then close Firefox...and then restart it to get the features or capability of it.
Sometimes the Extension features are used with a right click...sometimes the features are under the File or View or Go or Bookmarks or Tools menus...sometimes you have to goto Tools > Extensions which will OPEN the Extensions window panel, then highlight the extension that you just downloaded and move the mouse over the checkmark symbol (Options) and double click to activate the features...sometimes the features are stored as icons in the dropdown window configuration panel...View > Toolbars > Customize or right click on an empty space in the Top of the Firefox browser and pick Customize...this will open the dropdown window configuration panel (gray box)...then drag the icon up where you want the feature if it is in the box...you can also move features down into the dropdown window configuration panel(gray box) if you want to remove it from the Navigation or Bookmarks Toolbars.
From reading other posts in the Firefox forum, I think the Firefox download manager will not resume downloads like DAP might if they are big files.
I think you should still be able to use DAP with Firefox for downloads.

Well Jpq iam extremely so much thankful for your kind help.My Mozilla brower is now working fine as well as the extention which i have downloaded install well.
There is one problem that my Yahoo messenger does't works fine with Mozilla !
Remaining tjisngs are going well .Yes about DAP can i use with Mizilla or it is only for IE .
Thanks ,bundle of thanks dears

1. Yes you can use DAP for downloading files...but you can still use the Firefox download manger...
2. When downloading extensions do it this way: click on the install text on that extensions link (webpage) that you are viewing. It will ask if you want to install the extension...click yes(ok) or cancel (if you don't want it)...a little window will pop up...sometimes (not all the time) an extension download might bring up a message asking you whether you want to put the extension in your profiles folder or with the extensions folder...I put mine in the extensions folder so I (you) have to hit cancel to put it in the extensions folder.
3. I think, I read somewhere in the Firefox forums that just setting up your Firefox browser as the default browser will let you use Yahoo Messenger.
SET Firefox as Default browser this way:
Start/Launch Firefox:
Tools > Options > General > click CHECK NOW button which is near this message: Firefox is not currently set as your default browser.
This brings up a POP UP message which states: Would you like to make it your default browser? click Yes
Close Firefox and restart/launch it again.
SEE IF THAT LETS YOU USE Yahoo Messesenger.
TO Make IE (Internet Explorer) the Default browser again (if you want it as a default again):
Start/Launch Firefox:
Tools > Options > General > click CHECK NOW button which is near this message: Firefox is not currently set as your default browser.
This brings up a POP UP message which states: Would you like to make it your default browser? click NO
I will try to find out more if you can use Yahoo Messenger by just setting Firefox up as the default browser...in case it does not work for you....I don't use Yahoo Messenger...I don't use any.

It is nice to see your detail reply.I shall download DAP& will see to use with it.Thanks again

hey sea,
I thought you already had DAP? If you need a free Download Utility Manager try LeechGet Personal Edition (it is free).
In the following link on the left goto Quick download...click here to download LeechGet Personal Edition
LeechGet - The ultimate download utility
The webpage has screenshots of the software...I just started using it.

Sea,
This is a correction from an earlier post.
TO Make IE (Internet Explorer) the Default browser again (if you want it as a default again):
start/launch IE goto Tools > Internet Options > Programs...then click in the little box to put a checkmark besides this message: Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser ...click Apply button...click OK button.

I am no expert to say which is the best Firewall. I haved used these two free Personal Firewalls: ZoneAlarm Personal and Sygate Personal Firewall.
They can de downloaded here:
Sygate Personal Firewall - Award Winning Technology Within! click where it says: Download Now
Zone Labs: Download & Buy click where it says: Free Download
I am mainly using the Sygate Personal Firewall even though I downloaded both. I think it works better with Firefox.Read the computing.net forum for other opinions on what other users consider the best firewall.

Good information about it.but dear in both softwares Zone alerm 7 Seagate which is much better one ?
Is Seagate interface is userfraindly & much good than Zonealerm ?

Zone Alarm is easier to use and set up right away...many experts here recommend it for the first time user of firewalls.

Nice..but if u see the rating in download.com for Zone alerm mostly people say that the new version of Zone Alern is not much good .It causes many problems etc etc but for Seagate i does't found about any thing.
If the new version of Zone alerm will cause problem then i will not install it .What do u say now that is the new version is good.As you mention that u r using Seagate & it also works fine with Mozilla so if the user interface and is easy to use & will not occure any problem with the rest of the software which iam using then i think that seage will be good. What do u say about it.

I use Sygate with Windows 98SE...it is also easy to use...it has a little more options than Zone Alarm.
I would install it. If you search the web (internet) you definitely need a Firewall to protect your PC.
It is also easy to use and install.
If you have any questions about it they have a forum where they can answer your questions.
Here is the link to the Sygate Forum...

...in case you ever have any questions about using the Sygate Personal Firewall.
You just have to register to post a question. Then after registering click on the link that says: Sygate Personal Firewall to post a question.

Thanks a lot JPQ for such an interesting forum. Now it will be easy for me to submit any of my question related to seagate Firewall.
Again thanks a lot for such kind of valuable information.

Iam now using Sygate Firewall & it is working fine. Durning serfing in IE6 Sygate show a massage from the tray where sygare icon is display that
"Port Scanded attack is logged"
and after it becomes RED. I does't know what is the meaning of this massage .Is some one try to hack my system that is why a massage appear.
Also tell me taht the Sygate iocn is red now .How can i do it as normal as it is working normal.
Thanks for the guidence.

The Sygate Personall Firewall usually will display a port scan attack with a message advising you of the attack...on the system tray the Sygate icon will be two red arrows with a black dot in the middle.
I on ocassions will get mild port scans while searching the internet.
Some port scan attacks are mild and other port scan attacks are severe.
I have yet to get a severe port scan attack.
To check what type of port scan attack you have...do this: right click on the Sygate icon in the system tray...then select Logs then select Security log
This is what I always do...after the Security log is finished displaying (has loaded up) what type of port scan attack it is....I just goto File in the Security log panel and hit the clear button. Usually this will always restore the Sygate system icon to normal activity when a port scan attack shows with a message advising you of an attack.
See if that works for you.
Or you can right click then select block all. This will block anything coming into your PC.
I usually don't use this option (block all) unless I will be off the PC to get something to eat or drink for a long time and the PC is still connected to the internet.
After, I return to the PC, I right click again and select normal to be able to surf the internet...otherwise you will not be able to surf the internet.

well again thanks for the detail reply but iam unable to understand about "mild port scans ".
Yes when i saw this massage the arrowes were RED with a black dot in the middle.
At the moment i thought that my computer has hacked i was confused because i was unable to understand the massage.Well if some one try to enter in my system will Sygate Firewall will ask for the permission to allow that person or not ?
Further in sygate is there any sound system ar alarm that some one is entering from the back door of the pc ?
Iam asking you because iam new in Sygate & it is wonderful firewall .I does't feel any problem to opening my Software programs like Kazaa or Mozilla.

I don't know if Sygate Personal Firewall will give you a notification if someone is trying to enter your PC.
Are you asking this question because you use Kazza to share files on your PC?
I think, I read in this forum where Kazza is a music sharing program that might allow someone to enter (hack) your PC.
On the Sygate Personal Firewall icon in the System Tray .... right click then select Options then click OK on the message that appears...then in the Options dialog panel in the General tab and under Notification put a checkmark in Beep before notify then click OKIf you have more questions about Kazza post a question on this forum. I do not use the Kazza program.
Also, do not forget to post questions in the Sygate Personal Firewall (SPF) forum link that I posted above for questions about the SPF.

Thanks JPQ for all of your assistance in thsi regard.Iam extremely thanksfull for your kind guidence & valauable guidence.
At last again bundle of thanks. Thanks & thansk .Always be happy.

I think the Sygate Personal Firewall can be downloaded for a trial basis. I am not sure how many days the trial period is for.
Here is a link for it in case you want to know more.
Sygate Personal Firewall Pro - Ultimate Firewall Protection Technology!

Thnaks for it.Dear as now iam using Sygate Firewall .I view my security log & i see in the discription that
Somebody is scanning your computer
your computer TCP port"
xxx.xxxx.xxxx.80 and 2745 have been scanned from zzz.zzz.zzz.zz "I was so much confused & does't know what to do at that moment when i was on the .Yes the message also appear at that moment with the destionion IP address but due to lack of information i can't do any thing.
Plz guide me that how can i protect my computer from outt side user .Is there any security leavl high in Sygate Firewall ?
Thanks

I think you should post the question on the Sygate Personal Firewall forum:
Sygate Product Forums - powered by vBulletin
They are the experts on the Sygate Personall Firewall...are you still using Kazza?
If you post a question in the Sygate Forum, you should inform them of the fact that you have Kazza on your PC.
Did you try the steps in response #30 from the post above when you are being scanned? It starts with this message: To check what type of port scan attack you have and it ends with this message: See if that works for you.

Thanks JPQ for your kind reply.Yes i made an account in sygate forum but unfortunately it does't post my message.I can see as login name but when i click on new post it again ask for user name and password .I do't know why ? can u guid me that where iam doing mistake. The question is just about Sygate firewall .like what si Mak Address ? how can i make Sygate security level Hight ? etc etc.
