Windows 98 - Mouse is not detected in set up, but works fine. The only time it stops working, is when modem is accessed and starts to dial - then lose all use of mouse.
Any suggestions?

I'm going to guess your mouse is on COM 1 and your modem on COM 3. They both share an IRQ setting and so your modem needs to be switched Manually to COM 2 or COM 4. If it is Pnp it should have but doesnt always. Look at SYSTEM under Control Panel to see if you have IRQ problems. GOOD LUCK

Hi!

What Kevin has suggested above is absolutely correct. In addition, if you have P6 series of microprocessors, eg celeron, p2 etc, then you can setup the mouse on the onboard PS2 port. Then you shall have a COM port free. This works for most of the MICE !!
