mouse pointer blinks every few seconds

The mouse pointer will blink continually even when the system is Idle. I have disabled start-up programs and have watched a cpu monitor. The system goes from 0% use to 6- 8% use whenever the mouse blinks. I have done everything to disable video functions to booting in safe mode. The problem does not happen in safe mode.

try closing down the programs one at a time with the Close Program feature (Ctrl-Alt-Del)and see if it stops after a certain program is closed. Any Anti-Virus running auto protect? That does stuff like this sometimes. Good luck!

It's your video card drivers. They're not loaded in safe mode hence no problem. Try to get the latest version if you don't already have them, and if you do try playing with the acceleration setting.

If above suggestion does not work, then do a search for Comet Cursor using FIND. (key in COMET). You might also want to check Add/Remove Programs to see if it is listed there.

if you are using a an installed (not windows standard mouse driver) ther could be a setting in Control Panel/Mouse that sets blink rate? hope this helps
