I've just purchased a shiny new gigabyte GA-5AA motherboard and can't (whatever the hell I do) get windows to detect any type of mouse- PS/2 or serial. This may be a BIOS problem, but I've disabled plug n play aware BIOS so that windows allocates IRQs. I think I've tried everything. The strange thing is that if I let windows hardware wizard auto detect new hardware, It finds a standard PS/2 mouse: yee-ha:but when windows boots up again, I get the same message "windows did not detect a mouse connected to your computer". AAARRRGGGHH!!! I'm almost at the end of my tether on this one. Any advice appreciated.

I would suggest that you reboot until it recognizes the PS/2 mouse and then load the drivers for the mouse that way the mouse is "forced: to load upon boot-up. Just a suggestion. Let me know if it worked.
