Im having 2 problems with my new machine

i have a 1.3ghz athlon thiunderbird, 20 gig 7200 rpm hard disk, an Radeon ve ati card (had riva tnt 2 ultra)
1) during playing games the game completely freezes and the mouse pointer appears over the game screen

2) Problem same as above except the sound freezes and repeats cant do ctrl+alt+del
have to switch the machine off
Any ideas ??????

sounds like ur cpu may be overheating. my 1GHz Athlon used to do that all the time until i got some super cooling going on.

it might be the case that the cpu isn't making good thermal contact with the heatsink. unfortunately, unless you're very careful, you'll mess up the thermal goo if you take the heatsink off to check...

and you can't rely on the thermal sensor either.

try fitting an additional fan. if it doesn't help, take it back!
