I have a 9 pin standard sierial mouse, I tried to change to a round (ps/2?) with an adapter to 9 pin. Didnt work , even when I reboot with the different mouse, I get error no mouse detected. whats the deal?

The mouse may not be ps2 compatiable. Some of the older mouse were made with a switch. I don't think they make those anymore. You may check your bios to see if ps2 is enabled.

Not all of those adapters work. If you didn't get it with the mouse then it's probably not working.
