Comment: hello, i wonder if anyone can help me. im trying to install a driver for my moto v300 so i can install apps/games/wallpaper on my phone. problem is disk i have does not have correct drivers for 98se or even xp-pro sp2, instructions say install the prolific usb phone to serial driver, (some thing like that) i can install the motorola phonetools but i dont want to use my mobile as a modem, the tool PST that i think is used to transfer data will not connect to find as i guess there is no driver. i would be happy if someone can point to a universial driver and even a app to exchange data with my phone. im pretty sure cable is fine as when i connect pc to phone it trys to locate driver for the v300. any help will be great thank you very much

Reply: (edit)I have a V300 phone and a dual boot Win98/2000. Originally tried Win98 without success so ended up using Win2000. I don't think you will have much luck but go to the difinative site on the net for cell phones. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=3080557#post3080557

Reply: (edit)Thanks, I already have all the programs. I tried Win98 with the programs but they didn't seem to work. I just do things from Win2k. Did you find the article about hacking the files for things like the ring volumn, earbud volumn, etc, using a hex editor. I am hard of hearing and I changed the default volumn on my phone. Works great.

Reply: (edit)yes i knoticed that i will be attempting that pretty soon i think the default on the v300 it a bit low, have the squash the speaker to my ear when outside just to hear, and its still a hard to make sence what they are saying, as for some of that other stuff in the tutorial i dont even know what it is let alone what it will do to my phone :) . cheers for that OtheHill

Reply: (edit)They do get kind of crazy with those phones. Flashing the firmware, custom ringtones, etc. The hex editor works good though. Initially I didn't understand the instructions but once you catch on it is not hard. You need to export the file for the earpiece to your computer. Then copy it, so you always have an original file. Edit the copy, and import the file back into the phone. The first time I did it the volumn was so loud I had to hold the phone a foot away from my ear.
