Monitor screen has become to dark to see. How to you change the settings when you cannot see the screen? I am using an Alienware Area 51 laptop computer.

Laptop computers made in the past couple of years use software to control the brightness and contrast of the LCD panel. There might be something in the BIOS setup. Try hooking up a CRT monitor to the laptop computer so that you can try the software controls to bring up the brightness of the display. If adjusting the software controls can't help with the brightness then there might be a hardware problem with the back light of the display.
