hi everyone, i have a quick question.
I have a Packard Bell 1412SL monitor and i just hooked it up to my new 1.1Ghz Dell PC. The monitor works file at 800X600 Resolution but when i try to switch to 1024X768 my desktop shrinks to about 30 percent of the screen area. I can try to expand it using my monitor settings but they are maxed out. The screen flickers in an unusual way. I believe that I installed the driver's for my monitor but still dont seem to be getting it to a larger resolution.. any ideas? Thanks in Advance.

1. Videocard 2. Video Card Driver 3. Operating System 4. Monitor and its Controls.
Troublesghoot without considering all thse components will be a hit or miss!

Check the adapter refresh rate in display. To a certain extent reducing that number will increase the size. But you don't want to exceed the upper or lower values that the monitor can handle.
Summary: Did you use your old signal cable with the monitor you tried? If not it would be worth a check just in case. Otherwise it's time to bin your monitor I'm afraid (sounds like it's losing red). Could b...
