I have a Diamont Viper v550 VGA card.
I have my monitor installed as a Plug and Play monitor.
When Windows 98 boots, my monitor goes on stand-by and won't come out of it. So when Windows starts, my monitor goes blank and I can do nothing except restarting my computer and go to the Windows Safe mode. Then I must delete the Plug and Play monitor from my systemsettings. Then restart and the computer works again (of course Windows will find a monitor, but when it is not installed, the next time windows WILL start again but every time I have to cancel the monitor installation in order to access Windows.

Can anybody help

Don't know if this will help, but check Power Managment in Control Panel (In 98 anyway - not sure for 95 or NT) that the settings in there aren't all cocked up. Also visit the monitor & video card makers websites and get latest drivers for both. If this fails, take your monitor elsewhere (friends house) and check it there. This will either eliminate your monito or PC.
