Comment:

When I open the start menu or move icons around on my desktop they leave trails of horizontal lines on the screen of my monitor. Clicking F5 clears the lines until the next time I open the start menu or move icons around.
Does anyone know what's causing this to happen and what I can do to stop it from happening?
Thx guys...

1) Try updating your video drivers if at all possible to the latest

2) Under Control Panel, right-click on "Display", click on "Settings", Advanced, Performance and set the acceleration down a peg and reboot. See if this helps.

It really sounds like video drivers, though.

Had this problem at work not too long ago. The video card had gone bad. If your machine is still under warranty, you can get a replacement. Otherwise, just buy a new one.

I just want to update this thread...I took Jennifer's advice and started to look to the video card as the possible problem. I have a Nvidia GeForce3 Ti 500, the fan mounted on the card was not working and the card was getting too hot causing the lines to appear on the monitor. I replaced the fan and now the lines are gone.
Thanks Jennifer...
