Try a different modem: currently featured at Fry's (one of America's largest tech stores) the 56Ki MACH2 PCI VERSION FOR WINDOWS 95, 98 BY BEST DATA INC. just $3.99 after a $20 rebate. This modem kicked by connection up to 50666k from 46000k, have installed 4 (my own and 3 friends) and has not burped yet... not one resource conflict or the like.... Yes, I have a Diamond SupraMax 56ki, yes I have a Diamond SupraExpress 56Ki and I wish I could say that paying more for a modem guarantees ease of installation and high transfer rates....of late I am coming to think that the cost of a 56K modem is irrelavent, the question should be, "How well does it work?"

First, unplug all your telephones and just use the modem. Does that cure it? Some loudspeaking telephones sit on the line and can interfere with the data, slowing your connexion at best, and cutting you off at worst. Then have a look at your dial up networking. If youre using Win 95/98 check the configure then connexion tab and untick cancel a call if not connected in 60 secs or disconnect if idle for more than 20 minutes. If not cured then reply again, with more information, your ISP, OS, telephone company, location (rural or city) etc whether youre using DUN or software (as in X-stream net).

Try updating your firmware and drivers from diamond's web site. After doing this for my supraexpress modem, my connect speed went from 46600 to 52000 and seemed much more stable. http://www.diamondmm.com

try adding an init string to your control panel->modems->properties->connection->advanced->extra settings->+MS=v34 it will lower your connection speed to 38800 but your connection will stabilize after upgrading your drivers to the latest version and no results dont expect much more from this modem JUSTIN
I have a SupraSST 56i DFV and I am looking for the latest drivers, can anyone HELP? I have a problem with getting dropped offline about every 10 to 20 minutes or so and when i do connect it is at 45333bps or less when another computer I have will connect at 115200bps most of the time. I will check out any tips on config. of my modem if someone has suggestions. Thanks, hope someone can help me!

I have a SupraSST 56i DFV and had the same problem.Try adding (AT&F+MS=V34)in the extra settings of your modem. click;Start,Settings, control panel, modems,Properties,Connection,Advanced, and add the string. My modem now connects at 115200bps and hasn't dropped a connection since.

Actually, your modem isn't connecting at 115,200. It is displaying your port speed. (The fastest modem can only go about 54,000).
I have had good luck with ATZS10=99Q0.
