Comment:

I recently installed windows 98 SE on my computer and got an updated driver for my modem but when i tried to install it it says 'the file attcom.vxd could not be found on the windows 98 CD-ROM. I put the Windows 98 CD in but it still couldn't find it. What do I have to do to get it?

Hey
The first thing you need to do it go into device manager(right click my computer/manage),and remove(uninstall) all modem drivers. If the modem shows up, you have not removed all of the drivers.
Upon reboot it should find the new modem and then direct it to the driver(I.E, Floppy). If you do not remove the old drivers it will never work.

Those files should be included with the modem drivers. I don't think they're on the 98 cd in spite of the installation process asking for it.

I uninstalled all the drivers and my modem came up but i still couldn't complete the installation cause it couldn't find those files. They weren't in the floppy or the CD-ROM.

I think you should look for different drivers. Try www.driverguide.com. You can use:
