I have a Netodragon 56K modem and I have installed it twice to my pc but still it has no sound every time I will contact to my ISP. I checked its sound driver but it says that it is working fine. I don't know waht to do... HELP!
_THNX_

When you say 'has no sound' do you mean audiable sound coming from your speakers or do you mean no sound down the phone line?
It's my guess you probably mean down the phone line since audiable sound can be heard by simply checking a box on your dial up connection...are you sure you havent got one of these modems that needs an enumerator or WDM to work. You can install the modem first and be none the wiser! What you should be doing is installing the enumerator or WDM device first...uninstall your modem and check around your driver disk when prompted...if it's there, install it first THEN your modem.

there is no sound coming from the speakers. And when I installed this modem, it asked for the Win98SE CD. When I inserted it, it will search for its sound device but could not find it and the installation will end with the sound driver left behind.
Thanks anyway for your response! :)

The modem installation could have been looking for a serial wave device driver which is normally installed along with most modems that have have voice capability. The sound normally heard through the speakers is not related to the modem, it is related to the sound card, or onboard sound. If all of your sound is dead, there could be a resource conflict that occurred when you installed the modem. In this case, you should see an exclamation mark under the sound card in device manager. the easiest way to correct this is to remove the conflicting device and reboot. Windows should attempt to install it again. You will need to have the proper drivers on a Floppy or CD to install properly. Windows may not have the correct one for your particular device. If it is the modem serial wave device that needs a driver, it should be on the disk or cd that was supplied with your modem, or you can normally download the drivers from the manufacturers website.
With all that said, you didnt mention if the sound problem was with all other programs, or just when using the modem. Also, does the modem connect to your ISP and the Internet properly?
And if I didnt cover the problem yet, to enable a voice modem to work through the speakers, you may need a patch cable to go from the modem 'line out' to the speaker 'line in' (if so equipped).
Lastly, If all else fails, remove the modem, get the sound back, then put the modem in a different slot and retry. So much for plug n play! Good Luck.
