Agh... this is driving me batty, MMTask keeps freezing up .exe files, and makes several images distorted and discolored, also the only way to shut it off it to end the program and MMTask... Any help, please?

Which mmtask.exe are you referring to, as there are two that exist. One is installed by MusicMatch Jukebox and which detects the insertion or removal of a CD so that MusicMatch Jukebox can auto start accordingly.
Or mmtask.exe which is on all version of windows 9x and stands for Microsoft’s Multimedia Background Task Support Module. This is a hidden task in Windows 9x. MMTASK is a Microsoft background task which provides simulated multitasking for multimedia applications, so that, for example, you could be playing more than one video at the same time. This task does not exist in Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003 which are true multitasking operating systems.
MMtask.exe for Microsoft will not show up when ctrl > alt > delete is entered. As for Musicmatch jukebox just disable it from the start up list and reboot, but make sure its the right one.
If you experience error messages which mention MMTASK, then the problem is in most cases elsewhere, very often driver problems.

Okay, I don't have that jukebox thing, so it's probably the windows one. No definately. It's gotten to the point where my computer simply will not start up. It starts in safe mode, but from there I have no clue what to do. Currently I'm using a friend's computer, to ask here. Every time I boot scandisk starts up, and begins to scan for cross linked files, then stops. I have no idea what to do... I would really hate to lose what's on my HD, but I think reinstalling the OS may be my only choice... Man this is a bummer, anybody know what to do? maybe it's a driver error...

Okay, my computer starts up, I can hear it, but my monitor stays idle... I'm gonna switch monitors to see if it helps, please post any possible solutions.
