I've got a problem with mmtask & a blessing on you and your family if you can suggest an explanation & offer a solution.

Whilst on the web, I get a warning screen stating "[Mmtask] has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.... MMTASK caused a general protection fault in module KRNL386.exe at 0002:00002c7e..." This seems to happen only when I'm surfing & has happened 5 times so far this week. However, it doesn't seem to affect the running of any of my software.

ps, I'm running Win 98 with MS Office and only a handful of other programmes.

Any help would be welcomed.

Steve

Look in the startup under msconfig and tell us what is there.

Steve,

Use system file checker to restore the following two files:

Msacm.drv
Msacm.dll

Post back.

Good Day!
