I'm running win 98 and every time I restart my computer my sound board needs the drivers reinstalled... it says that "this device is not working properly because the file (mmdevldr.vxd) that loads the drivers for the device is bad. (code 8)." if I reinstall the drivers manually the device will work perfectly fine until I restart the computer than I have reinstall the drivers.. if anyone could shed some light on my situation that would be great.. any ideas??? Thanks alot to anyone helping.. Chris

Reply: (edit)The older version of dinamic library devcon32.dll in Windows/System maybe is incompatible with mmdevldr.vxd. If you have a Sound Blaster, take the new driver in creative site, or you can change your mmdevldr.vxd in Windows/System Directory. mmdevldr can be found in Windows95 disk8.cab

Reply: (edit)Hello Ladies and Gentleman, the solution is here! I had the same problem beacause I accidentally deleted the mmdevldr.vxd file, but I found this site www.treiber-archiv.de and all my problems have gone. Ok the site is German, just click Systemfile-Center, on the left of the page and then select the type of file you want (.vxd). Have a nice day Yannis

Reply: (edit)Well I tried the w95b version and it didn't resolve my problem. Then I tried the the one from the german site and it didn't work either. Maybe its this devcon32.dll file that needs to be changed. I don't know.

Reply: (edit)My sound card (Crystal Semiconductor CS4235) used to worked perfectly before I installed new drivers for my ICM PC Camera and now it is messed up. It gives me an Error Code(2) Saying NTKERN>VXD AND MMDEVLDR.VXD can not load the device. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it because I have replaced NTKERN.VXD and MMDEVLDR.VXD with new and current versions and nothing seems to fix my problem. Please email me @ naveena@erols.com If you can help me, thank you.
