mistake in going to 16 bit color

on dstn lcd ibm thinkpad 560 nephew set color to 16 bit.only supports 256.screen now shows what looks like monotor test(lots of letters). need to go into safemode to change back but won't go in usual way(hitting F8 or any F key in post up). how do you do it on thinkpad 560?

Hi Herb, hi evryone,
On all the computers I used, F8 was the key to get Startup menu (and select Safe mode)... I recently read F8 was designed for Win95 and that Ctrl was designed for Ws98... make it a try!

Very strange! I know about both keys but I never worked on a computer that didn't accept F8 (it's true that I always purchase the same makes of comps: Dell, CompaQ, Toshiba, IBM).
