When I boot my computer running on Windows 98 SE it stops at DOS level and prompting me for the below message.
"Cannot find a device file that may be neede to run Windows or a Windows application. The Windows regsitry or system.ini file refers to this device file, but the device file no longer exists.
If you still want to use the application associated with this device file, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file.
It reads as;
C:\WINDOWS\system\VMM32\enable.VXD
I could not find the enable.vxd file in the Windows 98 SE CD, nor in the first edition. I assumed this problem originated when I was first installling the Explorer so I uninstalled and reinstalled the Explorer version 5.5.
But the problem was not resolved. I searched the Windows registry for this file but could not find there either. The only incident I spotted enable.vxd on my computer was under
HKey_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer where I deleted it. It makes me think that it was originally put there while installing Exploere originally. I could not eliminate this problem from happening taht each time I start the Windows it stops at DOS level because of the missing file that it is looking for.
If anybody can help me to find this file so I can add it to the folder where Windows is looking for I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks a lot...

Run system.ini from start>run so that it opens in Notepad. If "Enable" is listed under the [386Enh] header, place a semicolon as the first character in the line.
Otherwise go to Add\Remove programs, click on Windows Setup and clear the check from Accessibility Options (used for handicapped features). Enable is associated with that.
