After I transfered the all file from old HD(slave) to my new installed HD(Master) and booted the computer, screen showed vdosind.vxd file missing. I did not know what it belongs to and I tried a few searches from web in order to find this file, but failed. Anybody can give me help? Thanks.

more than likely the message you actually got was that it was trying to load that file but the program that goes with it had been deleted. I would imagine that the file is still there but has no program attached to it anymore.

Go to RUN and type in REGEDIT...when the program opens up it will look like Windows Explorer. Click Edit at the top, click Find, and type in the name of the file. When the registry finds it, it will show up in the right hand side, click it once to highlight it, then click Edit again, Click Delete. Close Registry and reboot. The error message should now be gone when the system starts up.

I've never HEARD of the VDOSIND.VXD until one of our public workstations (this POS I'm using right now) sudenly began to request the file during load. The standard failed to load *.vxd message. It's supposed to reside in the VMM32 dir in System, but guess what. It's not there- nor is it anywhere in any of the other 500 odd machines I've searched. Nor is there a mention in the registry, or any *.ini files. I'm about to start decompiling S**t, becuase it's really starting to bug me.

If anyone knows what program supposedly needs this file, let me know. When I catch the bugger that installed something and didn't clean up after himself, I'm going to feed him to my 5 1/4, a peice at a time.

Did you ever find the answer to the missing VDOSIND.VXD file? I also get the same message on boot and the file is definitely nowhere on my system. Is there any solution?
