My speaker icon has gone missing from the taskbar. I have gone into the multimedia section of control panel and the tick section is blanked out. The tick is in the box, but I am unable to do anything. The sound still works though.

Any Ideas ????

Re-install. Schme-install. What an easy phrase to THROW out. (rant mode off).

If your sound card is not SELECTED in the Multimedis Properties from the Control Panel it might not let you show the volume control on the taskbar. Yours is probably saying 'Use any available device'.
