Comment: On boot says shlddrv.vxd is missing. Now I do remember tring to delete Panda antivirus platinum (trial) that I though was gone already, but alway stayed in add/remove programs. Nothing could be done if clicked on. So tried reinstalling. Thought I got it out but no still there. But now have missing shlddrv.vxd at boot. Did a search here on computing.net got one post. Said go to run/system.ini/f3/ look for shlddrv.vxd. Nothing is there though. If I go to find run text search this is what I find @C:\PROGRA~1\ACCESS~2\LOGON.EXE @ECHO OFF CLS ECHO .........Wasson Computers......... @ECHO OFF PROMPT $p$g PATH C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\DOS; SET TEMP=C:\DOS C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001 /V /M:8 REM Protector_Plus_AntiVirus path=%path%;C:\PROGRA~1\PROTEC~1 SET PATH=C:\PROGRA~1\PANDAS~1\PANDAA~1;%PATH% C:\PROGRA~1\SRNMIC~1\SOLOLITE /HARDDISK /REPAIR /AUTO C:\PROGRA~1\PANDAS~1\PANDAA~1\PAVCLSHE C:\PROGRA~1\PANDAS~1\PANDAA~1\ C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\NETWOR~1\VIRUSS~1\40~1.XX\scanpm.exe c:\ @IF ERRORLEVEL 1 PAUSE protector plus is something I thought was gone (nothing in add/remove programs) sololite, I just don't know. Does anyone know how I can fix this. Thank You so much.

Reply: (edit)Looks like there are still remnants of Panda on your system. You will have to find them and delete them manually. Clean boot troubleshooting might help you find what is calling for shlddrv.vxd so that you can remove it.

Reply: (edit)Using Msconfig under autoexe.bat if there is any referance to Panda can it just be unchecked safely. Because I have some lines there. 1. set path=c:\progra~pandas~1\pandaa~%path% 2. c:\progra~pandas~1\pandaa~1\pavclshe c:\progra~1\pandas~1\pandaa~1\ These I'm not sure of. 1. c:\progra~1\common~1-networ~1\viruss~1\40~1.xx\scanpm.exe c:\ 2. @if ERRORLEVAL 1 pause Thanks

Reply: (edit)The nice thing about msconfig is that you can temporarily disable items and try it out to see what effect it has. If there is a problem it is easy to undo the changes. If everything goes well, after a week or two you may want to edit the autoexec.bat file to make the changes permanent.

Reply: (edit)Joe, did you uncheck autoexec.bat, config.sys, win.ini, and system.ini, as well as the startup items?

Reply: (edit)I am working on a computer now that has this same problem but I can't find a way to get it out anywhere. I have tried suggestions above and there are no lines in the autoexec.bat however when I looked over Regedit I searched for shlddrv.vxd in regedit and I have found it in HKey_Local Machine\System\CurrentControlset\services\Vxd\Shlddrv In the folder is 2 names Name Data (Default) (value not set) StaticVxD "SHLDdrv.vxd" If I delete these regs, will it eliminate the message that boots up before Windows 98.

Reply: (edit)the answer: goto your regedit hkey_local_machine / system / current control set / services/ vxd If you find the map SHLDDRV there then delete the line Static VXD "Shlddrv.vxd" see the next link: http://people.zeelandnet.nl/jpunt/shlddrv.jpg best regards Jarno
