Recently my win98se machine boots up without providing the network logon dialog box. When I try to browse Network Neighborhood I get a generic "Trouble with network" error.
Before I un-install and re-install my network I thought I'd ask here if anyone else has experienced this problem.

Sounds like a corrupt TCP/IP stack. I would write down all your network settings, then remove EVERYTHING from Network Neighborhood (right-click Network Neighborhood, Properties). I mean all protocals, all clients, and the entry (or entries) for your network card. Click OK, reboot, reinstall NiC drivers, and rebuild your network settings. If things don't work, remove all protocols (just protocols), reboot, allow them to reinstall again (if they don't automatically, manually add them in network neighborhood)--this should rebind them to the adapters and clients properly. Try that, it should fix your problem.
