Whenever I boot up my computer I get a message that the windows registry or SYSTEM.INI can't find a "ndiswan.vxd" file.

How can this be fixed? Is there anywhere that I can get this file? Somebody help me please

Try doing the previous.. If you have trouble, open Network Properties.. Make sure you get all your settings down.. Then remove everything... Reboot and put them back.

I have Windows 98, and whenever I boot, I get a message box that says it can't find a missing file 'ndiswan.vxd' but that system.ini refers to it. I have used 'sysedit' and looked carefully at system.ini, but I can't see any reference to
the file at all. The message box says '
press any key to continue' and if I do this,
it takes about 5 minutes for anything further
to happen, but eventually the boot-up process continues. Is there any way to fix this? What component of Windows 98 would
contain that file? Thanks

Try deleting the file from the system registry, by going to start>run, and typing regedit.

I, too have the missing "ndiswan.vxd" message
which gives exactly the same symtoms as noted
by A.M. Babiker above. Does anyone know what
it is? All the responses say delete the
reference/call to it. What is the
"ndiswan.vxd" supposed to do? What directory
is it supposed to live in? If it makes no
difference if it exists or not, why is it there?
Any answers to the curious riddle
gratefully received.

Just go to the control panel, add/remove programs, windows setup, communications, remove the check mark for Virtual Private Network. Click OK twice and it will ask to restart the computer. It will still say the file is missing. Once its restarted go put the check mark back on and restart again and the problem is fixed.
