My computer says that I don't have the MSIMN.exe. program properly installed and therefore I have no default mail client, or the default mail client can not be used. How do I get this program again?

It looks like this program is part of outlook express, my personal favorite. You might try uninstalling it and then reinstalling from a fresh download. This may erase your address book, so be warned. The address book is saved in a file somewhere. Actually, now that I look in the prog files folder, msimn is the main program. I will send you a copy, but be warned again-this may not solve the file associations problem that it sounds like you were having. In other words, you still may not have a default mail handling program. Also, we could have different versions. If this doesn't work, you should go into Outlook Express in the Program Files Folder on the C: drive. Double clik on WAB.exe. You should see the normal address book screen in front of you. Then click file, then export, then Address Book. Save it somewhere where you'll remember it, then reinstall, and in the new address book, click file, then import, and then browse to find it. Best of luck.

I would suggest backing up files listed in a folder similar to this one......

C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Identities\{1703EB40-15BE-11D5-A634-EB4F573AC678}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

this contains your .dbx files (your inbox outbox and so on) then reinstall internet explorer (which will install outlook express again.

after install, do a start, find, files or folders. and look for *.dbx
take note of the folder it found the new files in. now goto where you had backed the origanal .dbx files and copy them and then go paste them in the folder that has the new ones in it. press yes when asked to overwrite existing file
