i assume i have never had IE 4 installed on my computer since i never had the desktop update until i recently installed it and no options for windows family logon. yes i have tried clicking add microsoft then microsoft client there is no WFL listed on it either. please no microsoft support based links they dont give any useful info because i have already looked. any personal knowledge would be appreciated. i now have IE 5.5 and run win95. i can not find any sites that have an ie4setup.exe b/c micro no longer supports it. i have tried searching my win95 and win98 cd's for any files reguarding IE 4 no luck.
I do not think it will help with the WFL problam but if you REALLY want IE4 then go to

flame thrower on full: That link is the same crap most every other user of Win98 has tried to foist off on me to d/l IE4. They don't know it doesn't work because they haven't tried it. It is just a link to a link to d/l from MS and MS doesn't do it anymore. Even if the links do let you d/l IE4Setup.exe that STILL tries to go to MS to get the rest. I finally found some CDs with IE4 on them and have been hoarding them.
He wants IE4 because he has an older machine and doesn't use Win98 because it is more of a resource hog than Win95 or hasn't seen the need to spend the $$$ and he wants the desktop updates that come with IE4. (My reasons) Go Noah, go. flame thrower off:

Now to other questions... What is there about Mic Family Logon that you want? Is there some reason you NEED that particular protocol? I have never seen the reasons to use it for anything.

alright i like this. see you know what im talking about. finally. i need that update because i need to block out other people from accessing my windows by clicking cancel this way a menu will come up and if you dont know the password no access.

I set the MFL and deleted the *user.pwl file and rebooted. It asked for a new password. I entered a new password and rebooted. It still let me cancel out of entering the correct one and right into Win95. I have never gotten it to work the way that it seems you want it to. It MIGHT keep someone else out of YOUR desktop settings IF you set up PROFILES. I have never messed with them. Win98 is not even good at restricting access, much less Win95. The only ways I know of that you are going to get 'no access' is to:
1) use a bios password
2) use WinNT or one of the newer windows
3) there MAY be a third party program that will do it.I will send you the IE4 program for you to try it for yourself if you want. Contact me. jer...
