Error messas=ge upon bootup of win98...states that its missing iaikeyb.vxd file can bypass this problem but wuold like to fix it so I can avoid this prompt everytime I boot up the computer...HELP

Howdy, What was the last program you uninstalled before the problem happened? If the system works properly after getting past the message I suggest this, go to start and click on RUN..type in REGEDIT go to EDIT and then FIND and do a search for the file you listed, if it is found delete it, press F3 to continue the search and delete any instance of it, clost the registry editor and restart the system and see if the problem goes away, normaly it does. But if you are not sure about any of this, e-mail me for further directions.
Laters,
Kevin The Tech Dude.

I too get this message. I got it after I removed the profiler program that came with my Hammerhead FX joystick.I'm curious too know if this is a file for the keyboard or whatever.

i have another system that says this on boot... it also has no sound icon in system tray... no sound nothing.... in device manager yellow mark on the sound blaster live.. i think the dvd and the sound card have been put in wrong areas... can u help me..
thx

This problem is indeed related to the sound/gaming card setup and the hammerhead fx gaming device. I have had this problem several times. The most recent, was when my sound card quit responding altogether. I had no cd player, media player or sound at all. Removing the card from the ide slot and re inserting it fixed the sound card (I could not get the software to respond properly - obviously corrosion/build up on the contacts of the device, removing it and putting it back rubbed it off). anyway, upon reboot, the machine found the sound card on it's own and re-installed all of the software components needed to run gaming, midi, wave files, etc. - this is when the IAIKEYB.VXD got misplaced. (PS the file IAIJOY.VXD was also lost. A Hammerhead FX gaming device file)
The last time was when I had difficulty upgrading my Adaptec CDRW software. I had to then re-install the CDRW before The IAIKEYB.vdx was back (if I remember correclty). I think this file is deffinately linked to sound, gaming plug and play. This affects the cd drives as they are directly connected to the sound card. The joystick devices are also connected this way and are linked quite closely with the other plug and play devices. I'm not sure I'd play with the registry straight off, try hardware removal/installation first. If you do play with the registry, back it up first.

Found the exact way and it's easy!
Go to Interact-acc.com, click "support" then "drivers and downloads"
Install upgrade for your interact gaming device.
You are now done. The message goes away without farting around your registry. If you intentionally uninstalled the gaming software, re install it, get the upgrade, and uninstall it again. This apparently fixes the snaffoo with IAIKEYB.VXD
