missing harddrive

i got two hard drives, i can boot into c: but no d: in windows, i see it in bios and in device manager but no d: in my computer.

I can see that you have win 98 on one of the harddrives. What is the size of the other harddrive and what have on it.

You didn't happen to get this 2nd HD out of a PC running Windows NT, 2000, or XP and recently just put it into this PC did you? The reason I ask, is that it may have the NTFS file system on it, which Windows 98 is not able to "see".

If it's a new drive or an NTFS drive, it must be partitioned as FAT32 and then formatted.

Yep - Windows 98 cannot see file systems other than FAT or FAT32 and has trouble with partitions not created under Windows or DOS. :-)

So run fdisk, Y to large disk support, option 5 to change drives, 2 to change to the second drive, then option 4. Exactly what does it say?
