missing gm16.dls file

I need to find a gm16.dls file for my comp. It Isn't on my 98 cd. I need it for sound on my comp.

That file is on your win98SE CD. You can extract it using SFC. Go to Start > Run type SFC, click OK and follow the instructions.

I tried the suggestion that you gave.It said that the gm16.dls could not be found on the 98 installation cd.

I don't know what to tell you. I guarantee that the file is on the win98SE CD. There are 3 copies. They are in the driver13.cab, driver14.cab and driver15.cab files.
I just tried SFC to verify that it works.
You should have the win98se CD mounted and point SFC to X:\win98. X should be the CD drive address (maybe (D:).

Thank-you I found it .It was there all the time.Every thing says it is ok now. Except I don't have sound.I will be able to fix that now.
