Hi. I'm missing these files:
Vfwwdm.drv
Stream.sys

Hpdskjtb.drv
Finstall.hlp
Unidrv.hlp

It has something to do with my webcam and my printer... :(
Where can I find these files? It prompts me to insert win98SE cd and i did but it still could not locate the files. I read that i must extract the files from a folder in the cd. Is that true? Can't it locate the files in the zip folder? hmm, I'm not even sure what I'm talking about...
I'd appreciate any help anyways. Thanks.

Wait for further advice on this (someone may recognise these files) but in the meantime:

None of these files look as if they come from the W98SE CD to me.

You probably need to insert the driver CD's for whatever programs need them (Windows sometimes "assumes" wrongly that it's the W98SE CD that you need to insert).

If you type the file names in Google this may help you find what programs they belong to until someone else can help.

... a bit more ...

You may have already hit the nail on the head, ie it needs the install CD's for your webcam and your printer. You may have to point it to a particular folder on them (could even be called W98).

The files are on the Win98 disk.

You can extract them using SFC.

I would not use the scan for altered files options within it but use the "extract one file from installation disk".

SFC does get some of the files wrong and Derek should still have a good link to that.
I somehow deleted it. :)

Derek,
I would like that link again also if you wouldn't mind. It is the one with responses from youself and WhitPhil on using SFC.

Take Care All,
Mesich

First, here's that "missing link" (worth a read Peter before you use SFC):

I must be on too much of the Christmas Ale!
I tried to extract all of those files from my W98SE CD (to a spare folder) and it said it couldn't find them. Is there more than one version of W98SE perhaps, mine came with the computer and appears to be a full version?

Seasons greetings to everyone.....

Derek,

Thanks for the link. I won't delete it this time. :)

I am working on getting my fill of Christmas Ale and such myself...

That is a bit odd that you cannot extract them from the Win98 Directory off of the CD or the hard drive.

Check out Driver20.cab for Stream.sys.

I was able to extract it using SFC, I extracted it to my desktop as to not over write the current stream.sys of course.

I can see it using WinZip to open the Driver20.cab file.

Let's have another cold one first!!

Merry Christmas Peter, Derek and Tufenuf!!

Yes, it must have been the Xmas ale!
Tried stream.sys and couldn't believe that it came out fine from my HD cab copies yet not from the CD. How about putting the CD in E then looking in D?

You've gotta admit that when I boob they don't come along more ludicrous. Do I get some sort of prize?

Peter, just disregard my #1 & #2 and do as mesich says. I've not checked all the files but if mesich says they are there then I'm sure they are.

I'll slink off now....
