a few days ago, my pc crashed, from 0 to bitch in 2.5 seconds. after watching a divix, my system would not restart the morning after. we replaced the file PSAPI.DLL that was missing after using a boot disk to get the pc running again.
now he says that the file NTDLL.DLL:_stricmp. was missing [something like this : the PSAPI.DLL file is attached/stringed to a missing file
NTDLL.DLL:_stricmp.]
how cani solve this problem, cannot find the solution on this or any other forum.
hope you computer wizzards out there can help me over here. Mail me the solution if posibble.

May the megabytes be your guidance

Hi
Extract the dll - ntdll.dll from win 98 cd, the same as you would have done for psapi.dll. It sounds like a lot of dlls might be missing or corrupt. Run the system file checker ie click run then type sfc (you will require the 98 cd)

If dlls are missing, I am surprised there are so few, varied error messages.

Hi
Great advice by anenefan. I just thought I'd add a little bit. There is a website where you can download pretty much any dll file. It can be found by clicking here. Then you can download the file and put it into your windows\system directory. Just thought i'd share that, even though it'd probally be easier to extract the file through SFC. Hope this helps.
Good Luck,
~winipcfg

Hi again

It sound like you purchased your computer with win98 already on it and they did not supply the vendor cd disk. (a special version that is designed your your type of computer.)

Follow winipcfg's advice and get ntdll from there. The ntdll.dll is copied to c:\windows\system

Hello everyone,

I seem to have the same problem on w98. After running the csf and not finding any corrupted files, I followed your advise and downloaded the file from the dll-files website.

Unfortunately when I open the zip file and try to copy the two files onto the c:\windows\system directory I get a message saying: "Cannot create or replace NTDLL: The specified file is being used by Windows."

Would appreciate solution to this. Thanks!
