Missing apps.inf file AND folder

When windows 98 first edition starts up its says i need apps.inf folder, i accidentaly deleted all inf files and folders so i have no back up and cannot find my windows setup disk.

I don't know of an apps.inf "folder" but there is an apps.inf "file" which goes in the folder c:\windows\inf
Not sure if I can unearth a W98 version (someone else may). I would have thought this would only be the start of your troubles if you've deleted them all.
Best way forward is to beg, borrow or buy a W98CD and reload it on top. You can get your product key by searching the registry for ProductKey (exactly as written).
It's just possible that someone has put the W98 OS CD files on your HD (often in c:\win98). Search for Win98_30.cab and if you find it see if there are a stack more .cab files in the same location. If so you have probably found the saved OS.
