You can use a 486-66 MHz but the program will take a large portion of the hard disk space that is normally 540 Mo max and it will be notably slow.Good luck.

486DX 66 MHz or faster processor (Pentium recommended)

16 megabytes (MB) of memory (24 MB recommended)

120 MB of free hard disk space (typical installation requires approximately 195 MB of free hard disk space, but the required space may vary from 120 MB to 295 MB, depending on your computer's configuration and the options you choose to install)

WIN98 REQUIREMENTS

16 mb ram would do,
but the machine would be painfully slow.
i'd recommend a min of 32 mb ram
and a processor of atleast 166 Mhz +
u can forget games and fast browising of java intensive web sites,
as someone said stick with win 95

if u want GOOD as in GOOD performance for mp3 encoding, editing, etc...
300+ Mhz,
64 MB ram,
of course, video card for games

As mentioned already, stick with Windows 95. I used to run Win98 on a system with 16MB RAM (was a Pentium 133Mhz) and it was really slow. Win95 would be much better. If you do go with Win98, you might want to try 98Lite. (www.litepc.com) You can use the free version to use the Win95 explorer in Win98. You'll get close to the speed of 95 and the full compatibility of 98, although you won't get all the Win98 features.
